Cookies & privacy
How we use cookies.
A short, plain-English explanation of the cookies on dartmouthholiday.co.uk, and a place to change your mind.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites save to your browser. They’re used for things like keeping you signed in, remembering preferences, and understanding which pages people read.
We use them sparingly. By default, only the strictly necessary one is active — nothing else fires until you opt in.
What this site sets
| Cookie / item | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
dartmouth_consent_v1 |
Stores your cookie preferences so we don’t ask again on every page. Saved in browser localStorage, not a server cookie. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear browser data |
_ga |
Google Analytics 4 - distinguishes individual visitors anonymously. Only set if you accept analytics. | Analytics | 2 years |
_ga_YQYVJC4193 |
Google Analytics 4 - session state for this specific property. Only set if you accept analytics. | Analytics | 2 years |
A note on Google Fonts
The site uses two typefaces from Google Fonts (Newsreader and DM Sans). Loading them doesn’t set cookies, but the font request does expose your IP address to Google. We’re mentioning this for transparency — UK regulators haven’t treated this as a consent issue, and self-hosting is on our list to look at.
Your preferences
Choose what you’re comfortable with. Strictly necessary stays on (the site can’t work without it). Everything else is your call.
Strictly necessary
Stores your cookie choice so we don’t pester you on every page. Can’t be turned off.
Always onAnalytics
Anonymous Google Analytics 4 to help us understand which pages are useful and where people drop off. No personal information, no advertising data.
Your rights
You can change your mind any time using the toggles above, the “Cookies” pill at the bottom-left of any other page, or by clearing your browser’s site data.
If you have concerns about how your data is handled, you can contact the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). The ICO is the UK regulator for data protection and privacy.
